Problem

Despite growing demand for eco-friendly and skin-friendly products, consumers lack an effective platform to connect with quality handmade soaps made from natural ingredients, limiting their access and artisans' market reach .

Goal

To develop an intuitive and user-friendly platform that seamlessly connects consumers with artisanal handmade soap producers, facilitating easy access to eco-friendly, skin-nurturing products while amplifying the reach and recognition of dedicated artisans in the handmade soap community.

Research

Bar soap usage in the US is on the rise, according to Statista. Further secondary research reveals that women lead this trend, with a dominant preference for online shopping. However, satisfaction levels indicate room for improvement.

User journey map

In my research, I found that people tend to favor bar soap over liquid soap. Through the user journey map I developed, the current soap buying process, both in-store and online, became clear. Based on these findings, I believe an online app for customized handmade bar soaps would be a significant improvement.
